The Lithuanian Government Allocates Funding to Support Film Industry

In response to COVID-19 virus, the Lithuanian Government has allocated additional resources of 2 m EUR to the Lithuanian film sector to support cinemas, new productions, distribution, individual filmmakers, TV and audiovisual content. The measure is implemented by the Lithuanian Film Centre, which is analysing the current situation in the film industry. The decision on additional funding will be made after the evaluation of already completed production, required changes to projects, and emerging problems related to raising funds from traditional sources. Stranger Things Season 4 Filming wraps in Vilnius

The crew of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was in Vilnius filming part of the show’s fourth season. Shooting took place at locations around the Lithuanian capital, including the recently closed century-old former prison. Season four of the critically acclaimed Stranger Things was being shot in Vilnius, Lithuania. Preparations for the production started last November and filming ended on 14 February. A former Lukiskes prison complex is now open to filmmakers

A former Lukiskes prison complex in Vilnius is catching the attention of filmmakers and may attract even more international film and TV projects to Lithuania. The prison complex consists of six buildings which incorporates a prison, a hospital, administration buildings and the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church and is located in the city centre of Vilnius.
