The team of the hugely popular drama series “Sisi”—the s show is well-known in Lithuania—continues shooting the fourth season in various locations across Europe. Until now, “Sisi” has been screened in more than 120 countries, and a large part of the shooting takes place in Lithuania, particularly in the capital Vilnius, which embodies 19th-century Austria in the show.
As in previous seasons, the international audience will once again see locations that Lithuanians know very well: the area around Vilnius University, which has become the Hofburg Palace, the streets of the capital’s old town, as well as the Riešė Hippodrome, located in the Vilnius district. The shooting took place in Lithuania from June 28 to July 16 and then moved on to Riga. The team had previously filmed part of the series in Croatia and Slovenia.
In the fourth season, the show centers around the empress mourning her dead father. Determined to save her parents’ home, Posen Castle, she challenges the best horseman in Bavaria, and after finding out the family’s dark secret, she will have to ask herself where her home really is.
In the show’s fourth season, we see the leading actors, Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann, reprising their roles as Sisi and Franz. The series continues to feature a top-notch cast: Julia Stemberger (Duchess Ludovika), Désirée Nosbusch (Archduchess Sofia), Tanja Schleiff (Countess Esterhazy), Marcus Grüsser (Duke Max), David Korbmann (Count Grünne), and Arian Wegener (Crown Rudolf). Besides, there are quite a few new names in “Sisi’s” fourth season: Eli Riccardi, Sabine Timoteo, Nadja Sabersky, and Waldemar Kobus. New episodes will be aired on RTL+ in 2024.
Interestingly, there are a few Lithuanians in the series’ team, e.g., film artist Algirdas Garbačiauskas and costume designer Daiva Petrulytė.
The fourth season is produced by Jens Freels and Andreas Gutzeit and directed by Sven Bohse. The film production company “Nordic Productions” organizes the shooting in Lithuania.
