On the final weekend of summer, the Vilnius Film Office invites residents and visitors to discover the city through cinema. On 29–30 August, three free film tourism tours will reveal different faces of Vilnius on screen – from stories of Lithuanian cinema to Nordic crime dramas and the architecture of Socialist Realism and Brutalism.

Participants will visit Vilnius locations featured on screen, hear behind-the-scenes stories from film productions, and discover how familiar city spaces are transformed when they catch the eye of filmmakers.

On 29 August at 10:00, the tour “Following the Footsteps of Lithuanian Cinema” will take participants through Vilnius following the traces of Lithuanian cinema. Along the way, they will revisit films shot in the city, hear the stories behind them, and see the capital through the work of different Lithuanian filmmakers.

Later that day, at 13:00, the tour “In Search of Nordic Noir: What Makes Crime Stories Special” will explore Vilnius locations that have doubled for Northern European cities in crime films and series. Participants will learn why the capital’s architecture and urban spaces so often attract the attention of international filmmakers.

On 30 August at 10:00, the tour “Brutalist Architecture & Socialist Realism on Screen” will invite participants to see Vilnius architecture as an important part of cinematic storytelling and discover buildings and urban spaces whose distinctive aesthetics have repeatedly found their way onto the screen.

All three tours will be held in Lithuanian.
