Following the approval of newly prepared competition regulations by the Vilnius City Council, culture and arts creators can now apply for individual and emerging creator grants. Individual grants aimed at supporting creative work, professional development, and the implementation of new ideas will be awarded for periods of six or eight months. A total of €50,000 will be allocated to the grant program.

“We want talented creators in Vilnius not only to have spaces for self-expression, but also real support from the city in bringing their ideas to life. This new grant program will allow culture and arts creators to plan creative projects more confidently, experiment, and present their work to the residents and visitors of Vilnius,” says Simona Bieliūnė, Vice Mayor of Vilnius.

Funding (grants) will be available to creators working in the fields of visual and applied arts, music, performing arts, cinema, literature, interdisciplinary art, memory institutions, and ethnic culture. The program will support not only creative ideas themselves, but also their implementation, including equipment rental, installation work, publishing, technical solutions, travel expenses, publicity, filming, photography, digitisation, and more.

Applications will be evaluated according to approved criteria related to cultural and artistic value, relevance to the city of Vilnius, previous creative achievements, the feasibility of the idea, as well as aspects of financial planning, communication, and accessibility.

Adult culture and arts creators living and working in Vilnius are eligible to apply. Applicants must have their place of residence registered in the city and actively carry out creative work there.

The program includes two types of grants. One will be an individual grant intended to encourage individual creative expression. The other will be an emerging creator grant aimed at artists at the beginning of their careers. Applicants for the emerging creator grant must have obtained a higher education degree within the past five years or have been professionally active in a specific field of culture or art for no longer than five years.

Both types of grants amount to €500 per month. The individual grant may be awarded for up to eight months, while the emerging creator grant may be awarded for up to six months. Grants will be paid out in a single payment covering the entire awarded period.

Applications for the grants are open until June 15 (inclusive), with more information available on the website.
