Vilnius Film Fund

The Vilnius Film Fund represents Lithuania’s first city-level film financing initiative, designed to increase Vilnius’s global brand presence and attract international creative partnerships.

The Vilnius Film Fund invests in documentary, animated, and feature-length film co-productions that unite Lithuanian and international filmmakers.

The Vilnius Film Fund delivers three core outcomes:

o facilitates Lithuanian-international film co-productions within Vilnius

o contributes to economic development, global recognition, competitiveness, as well as the cultural identity of Vilnius City through film projects

o positions Vilnius as an attractive and production-friendly filming location.

Projects undergo expert evaluation across five key criteria:

• demonstrated potential to enhance Vilnius’s international profile, strengthen city brand identity, and boost film industry competitiveness

• strategic incorporation of Vilnius into the narrative (script or documentary treatment) that reinforces the city’s cultural identity

• engagement of local creative talent, vendors, and suppliers to generate measurable economic impact within Vilnius

• budget efficiency – cost-effective allocation aligned with market standards and project deliverables

• sustainability standards – integration of environmentally responsible production practices.

Investment Structure

• Total annual fund allocation: €150,000

• Maximum investment per project: €30,000

• Annual application cycle with a two-submission limit per applicant

• One-time funding per project (exception: continuing film production projects eligible for funding across two calendar years, subject to maximum cap)
